NIN busts out TDS at NYC goodbye gig

Just a few hours ago, reports started rolling in that Trent Reznor & Co. were playing the entirety of 1994′s legendary “The Downward Spiral” for a sold-out crowd of 1400 at New York City’s Webster Hall.
The setlist came as a surprise to NIN fans around the world — Reznor hasn’t ever pulled an album out and played the entire thing at a show — and some of the tracks have apparently never even been played live! Afterwards, Reznor remarked: “I’ve always wanted to play that record. And that’s the only time I’ll be doing that.”
“The Downward Spiral” only comprised about half of the evenings setlist — just one of a few dates Trent Reznor is billing as Nine Inch Nails “last tour ever.” The rest of the evening was composed of some more obscure NIN tracks as well as a few covers — Gary Numan’s “Metal,” Adam Ant’s “Physical” and even Pigface’s “Suck”. The tour only has 9 days left, set in NYC, Chicago, Vancouver and finally Los Angeles.
Fans attending one of the few remaining dates are sure to be in for a surprise — probably no more full Downward Spiral run-throughs, but who knows what else Reznor has planned. How about a full run of “The Fragile” Trent? Please?
I REALLY wish I would have had a chance to see them over the last few years… they put on a hell of a live show from what I’ve heard, so it’s a damn shame that Reznor is ready to put off touring. Who knows, he’s said the same thing before, so hopefully he’ll be back!
Here’s the rest of tonight’s setlist — go ahead and tell me this isn’t amazing:
“Mr. Self Destruct”
“Piggy”
“Heresy”
“March of the Pigs”
“Closer”
“Ruiner”
“The Becoming”
“I Do Not Want This”
“Big Man With a Gun”
“A Warm Place”
“Eraser”
“Reptile”
“The Downward Spiral”
“Hurt”
“1,000,000″
“Terrible Lie”
“Metal”
“Lights in the Sky”
“Burn”
“Gave Up”
“Suck”
“Physical”
“The Hand That Feeds”
“Head Like a Hole”
