The Obamas to host “A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement”

Paste Magazine is reporting that in order to celebrate Black History Month, President Obama and his wife have planned a massive concert.

Entitled “In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement,” the event will feature performances by Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, Natalie Cole, John Legend, Seal, Smokey Robinson and several other artists. Morgan Freeman and Queen Latifah are set to MC the show, to be broadcast on PBS. The show will be recorded on February 10th and airs on the 11th.

Michelle Obama has organized the event as part of the White House Music Series, but this event will also feature readings from several civil-rights speeches. Overall it sounds like it will be a good show and a good way to hep celebrate Black History Month. It’s an interesting line-up of performers as well, so there is a good chance there will be something that you enjoy during the show.
