The legendary Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam agreed with with his son. Hopefully joking around, he said that Coldplay’s hit from last year, “Viva La Vida” sounds too much like his own song, “Foreigner Suite”.

“My son brought it to my attention and said: ‘Doesn’t that sound like ‘Foreigner Suite?’ The song definitely sounds like it. It has such logical chords and the melody has to be what it is…”

He had a brief telephone interview with Reuters, who told the news corporation that he may pursue the issue legally.. “It depends on how well Satriani does.”

Joe Satriani sued Coldplay last year over copyright infringement, saying his own song “If I Could Fly” sounds too much like their song “Viva La Vida”. Sounds like “Viva La Vida” has put Coldplay in a lot of hot water.

Maybe they deserve an award, for finding a way to mix Joe Satriani and Cat Stevens?

Cat Stevens’ new album, “Roadsinger” is scheduled to come out today, May 5th. He will play on “the Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on May 13th.
