Kris Allen wins American Idol Season 8!
In what some could call an upset, Kris Allen was just crowned as the winner of American Idol Season 8. After a star-studded finale featuring the likes of Carlos Santana, KISS, Keith Urban, Queen and Rod Stewart — Ryan Seacrest revealed that Kris Allen had won the majority of the nearly 100,000,000 votes cast last night. Finishing in second was Adam Lambert.
Kris seemed honestly stunned to have won, but Adam and the other contestants congratulated him before he sang what is going to be released as his first single — “No Boundaries”.
The vast majority of the music press had been betting on Adam Lambert, the flamboyant singer (and previous Wicked! understudy) to win the competition. I’m sure he’s going to go on to have a successful career, but I must admit I’m a little surprised at the results. Regardless, congratulations to Kris Allen for winning and I wish him the best of luck with his debut album!
The top 10 contestants on American Idol are set to go on tour starting July 5th in Portland, OR and will be touring through mid-September.
Perhaps the most depressing thing is that I now have nothing to watch on TV on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Oh well, here’s to next January and a new season of Idol
